报告摘要: This talk is concerned with the uniform boundary controllability of wave equations with rapidly oscillating coefficients. I will begin by introducing this classical control problem, proposed by J.-L. Lions in 1980s, and describe the progress made over the years. I will then discuss a very recent work, joint with Fanghua Lin at the Courant Institute, based on the homogenization theory. We study the convergence rates of solutions of the wave equations. The results are used to prove the exact boundary controllability, which is uniform in the scale of the microstructure, for the projection of solutions to certain subspaces generated by eigenfunctions.
