报告题目:Exploration on topological semimetals: crystal growth and magnetotransport studies

报告摘要:Since the discovery of topological insulators, Dirac and Weyl semimetals, the study and exploration of topological materials has been a focus in condensed matter physics community. In this talk, the speaker will present their recent results on crystal growth and magnetotransport study of several possible topological semimetal candidates. It is found that possible TRS-breaking Weyl state may be realized in YbMnSb2 and the angle-dependent interlayer magnetoresistance indicates the interlayer transport is coherent. Study on BaZnBi2 indicates that it is possibly a topological trivial semimetal, quite different from Mn-based materials with the same crystal structure, which are usually reported as topological nontrivial semimetal candidates.

报告人简介:Prof. Tian-Long Xia received his B.S. degree from USTC in 2001, and Ph.D. from the University of Hong Kong in 2006. He joined the Renmin University of China as a faculty member in 2005 when the department of physics at RUC were founded. He set up his research group in 2011 and became a Ph.D. supervisor in 2014. Research in his team is mainly focused on exploring new superconducting/topological materials and crystal growth of functional materials with strong correlation.
