Prof Banerjee is a full professor at University of Illinois at Chicago, visiting faculty at University of Chicago and the founder and president of ImmersiveTouch Inc. Prof Banerjee has over 150 publications in international peer reviewed journals and conferences, and his book Virtual Manufacturing has been translated to Chinese by Tsinghua University Press. Prof Banerjee has very successful experience in industrialization of his patents about a surgical simulator called ImmersiveTouch, which has been awarded by several societies and meetings in healthcare and neurosurgery.
报告内容:
Our patented industrial virtual reality and haptic device known as ImmersiveTouch has faciliated a large number of high fidelity surgical simulation applications. The unique feature includes a successful integration of high fidelity, head and hand tracked, high performance and high resolution three-dimensional environment with haptics-graphics collocation. Demonstrative applications include: (i) neurosurgical simulations such as ventriculostomy, rhizotomy, spinal pedical screw insertion, lumbar spine puncture, aneurysm clipping, etc.; (ii) ophthalmology applications such as capsulorrhexis, phacoemulisification simulation, etc. and (iii) ENT applications such as endoscopic pituitary adenoma simulation. A number of other surgical disciplines are now being simulated to develop an alternative to the 150 year-old Halstedian method of training surgical residents. This talk will highlight some of the theoretical and developmental challenges in this effort. Recent clinical applications will also be discussed.
