报告人简介：
Giuseppe Battaglia holds the Chair in Molecular Bionics in the Department of Chemistry at University College London (UCL). Prior to joining UCL, GB held positions in the Departments of Materials Sci. and Eng. (2006-2009) and Biomedical Science (2009-2013) at the University of Sheffield. GB has raised a total research income in excess of £19M from research councils, industry (such as AstraZenca, BTG, and Reckitt Benkiser) and charities (including over £6M as principal investigator with over £4M from EPSRC). In 2011 he was awarded an ERC Starting Grant and he is co-I in the recently awarded Alzheimer’s Research UK Drug Discovery Institute £8.8m. G. Schiavo (PI). GB has published over 90 research articles, reviews and book chapters with excess of 2900 citations (H-index 29 and average of 32.5 citations per paper). GB is named inventor of 6 patents and was awarded the 2009 HFSP Young Investigator Award jointly with Prof A. Engler, University of California San Diego, the 2011 APS/IoP Polymer Physics Exchange Award Lecture, the 2011 GSK Emerging Scientist Award, the 2012 Award for special contribution to Polymer Therapeutics, the 2014 RSC Thomas Graham Award Lecture and 2015 SCI/RSC McBain Medal for Colloid Science. GB applies soft matter systems and supramolecular chemistry to design nanoscopic systems that copy and/or improve biological structures such as viruses and cells to be used for several applications including biotechnology, drug and gene delivery, diagnostic tools and cell engineering scaffolds. Some of these new constructs are now being translated into the development of new therapies in oncology, immunology and neurology.
